08/09/2024 at 11:10 amWe recently visited this Malaysian-Chinese restaurant in Ivanhoe, and it was our first experience with Malaysian cuisine. We started with the xia long bao, which were absolutely delightful—definitely a highlight of our meal!
For our main course, we opted for the chef’s special, the rendang beef. It was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor, with lovely hints of lemongrass, chili, and coconut milk. We loved it!
However, we didn’t quite enjoy the tan fried kway teow; we found the flavor to be a bit off for our taste. That said, it only adds to our desire to explore more of the menu during our next visit.
The highlight of our experience was the staff—extremely nice and attentive, making us feel welcomed throughout our meal. We’re looking forward to trying different dishes next time. Thank you for a lovely experience!

14/07/2024 at 11:52 pmWe come here often to dine in or takeaway. This last time was fabulous. Had several people over, so we tried several dishes to takeaway. The chicken with cashew nuts was nice, though the chicken was a little dry. However, the Cantonese eye fillet and the honey and pepper pork were excellent. Tender meat, flavoursome sauces, lots of veg. Short soup was delicious with plenty of dumplings. Plus, Tann is the only restaurant in the area to serve Shanghai dumplings (Xiao long bao), and they are terrific. Curry puffs are delicious, seafood springrolls, and roast duck spring rolls also excellent. The prawn and ginger dumplings were a bit soft and stodgy. Otherwise, everything was brilliant, and everyone commented on it being an excellent meal. The staff are absolutely lovely. Thank you!

04/03/2024 at 6:35 amDespite some positives, this place deserves a -5 star review because no one should be able to serve such terrible food and get away with it.
The Red Chicken was atrocious. There were 3 small pieces of chewy unidentifiable parts of a chicken and 3 pieces of something that resembled tofu. The dish had no taste, small in quantity and terrible in quality.
You can get much better food in a food court for a lower price.
I must say I have not had such terrible food in Melbourne in years or perhaps ever, and I say this despite the fact that the curry puffs were good and the restaurant had a nice upscale vibe and decoration.
It was so poor that it almost felt like the chef was sticking the middle finger at you. It was food that you wouldn’t even be able to serve for free.
Service wasn’t as bad but not great by any means.

30/12/2019 at 8:23 amAfter skimming the other reviews I am not sure why there is such. Large disconnect between what I experienced and what everyone else experienced.
I could have sworn that the dumplings were straight out of the frozen food section in the supermarket. Each course came out and it just never got any better.
The main was a stir fry and it looked like it was all boiled (including the chicken) it was, hands down, the most disappointing meal of 2019.
We hardly touched the main course, and left before desert. I generously gave them 2 stars for service and the decor.
